Conference and Education Manager

This position will work closely with the tradeshow manager to develop and deliver high-quality conference education programming that aligns with event goals and objectives for an annual, B2B conference and exhibition with 1,500 attendees.

The Conference and Education Manager will direct all aspects of the conference including agenda development and management, logistics, content development and speaker management.

 

Responsibilities, include but are not limited to:

  • Identify potential topics and speakers of interest by reviewing post-event surveys and session evaluations, conducting a “call for proposals”, working with exhibitors and industry subject matter experts and researching industry trends and education needs

  • Develop conference programming including pre-conference workshops, Keynote, breakout sessions and Innovation Theater sessions.

  • Recommend and develop new ideas to enhance conference and educational experience

  • Manage the proposal submission and acceptance process for all speakers, including contracts, W-9s, etc.

  • Develop and manage conference budget including AV, speakers fees and speaker travel/hotel.

  • Create and manage conference advisory board

  • Source and work with AV vendor including negotiating contract

  • Edit session titles, descriptions and speaker bios and for conference program and upload to conference management software

  • Partner with industry association(s) to develop educational offerings and approved continuing education credits

  • Assign meeting rooms and submit meeting room sets to venue contact

  • Schedule room monitors/session scanners

  • Develop and review attendee session evaluations

 

Note: This is a contractor position or part-time will be considered.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience including managing education and speaker management for small/medium -scale conferences and/or tradeshows

  • Strong writing skills with strong proof-reading skills; high levels of accuracy and attention to detail (Journalism background ideal)

  • Proven project management experience including the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks conforming to shifting priorities, demands and timelines.

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as on a team

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, exceptional detail orientation and accountability is a must!
